Beach time at Las Canteras
Enjoy the sun, surf and sand on beautiful Las Canteras beach. - just 100 meters away from our apartment.
Three kilometers of rich and varied beach life
Las Canteras beach is one of most stunning urban beaches in Europe, winner of several national and international quality awards, including the Q for Tourist Quality.
Las Canteras beach stretches from La Puntilla southwards to the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium. 3 km of beautiful sandy beach that offers much more than just sunshine and cristal clear water.
El Confital
Just a 20 minutes walk from our apartment heading north from La Puntilla along the boardwalk you will come to another surfers paradise of El Confital beach. Please don't underestimate the strength of waves and ocean.
La Puntilla:
You're staying less than 100 meters from the first section of Las Canteras beach. The beach here serves as a picturesque “parking lot” for fishermen's boats and, in winter, as a stage for magnificent sand sculptures that tell the Christmas story.
Playa Grande:
A beach par excellence: wide, clean, and with fine sand for relaxing, playgrounds for children, and several courts for beach volleyball and beach tennis.
Playa Chica, Muro Marrero and Peña La Vieja:
Ideal for children and diving, swimming, and exploring the nearby reef rocks, which are home to numerous species of fish.
La Cícer:
The surfers' paradise, located near Alfredo Kruas Auditorium
Lifeguards & Safety
In the winter, lifeguards are on duty from 10 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. During the summer lifeguard duty is extended to 7 in the evening. Flags are set up on the beach to indicate whether it is safe to swim. Green for “safe to swim”, Yellow for “caution – be careful due to moderate hazards”, Red “not safe to swim”, which may be due to strong currents, jellyfish in the water (this gets an extra flag with a jellyfish on it!), rough seas or waves that are too high and dangerous.
Wind, Sun & Sunburned
Make sure to bring sunscreen and use it regularly! Even though there are often lots of clouds, the sun is strong. A bad sunburn can ruin even the most beautiful vacation.
You are welcome to take the parasol to the beach, which you'll find on the shelf next to the hot water boiler in the bathroom. Take the screw base with you in order to anchor the parasol in the sand. The wind often blows very strongly on the beach, so make sure the umbrella is securely anchored. If the parasol breaks (strong wind), just buy a new one in one of the shops on the promenade so that the next guest will also have a parasol available.
Towels & Showers
Please bring your own beach towel from home or buy one during your stay.
The white towels we provide in the apartment must remain in the apartment and may not be taken to the beach.
Use the freely accessible showers on the beach to wash off sand and salt water. This will prevent sand from being tracked into the apartment.
Public toilets (aseos públicos) are locatied near the beach volleyball fields
Lounging at the beach
There are also rental stations on the beach for lounge chairs, umbrellas and tables. The prices are reasonable: about €4 each for a lounger or umbrella. The tables are free of charge to go with your rental. Rental stations close down at 5 in the afternoon and the rented equipment is collected.
Trash & Smoking
Smoking and pets are prohibited on the beach. Please dispose of your trash in one of the numerous garbage bins along the promenade.
